Sharepoint Designer replacing sections of html with {generate-id()} in custom list forms

While working on a custom edit list form in SharePoint Designer 2007 I noticed I was getting a JavaScript error when trying to attach a document. I opened the page in question and noticed it had added ‘{generate-id()}’ onto the end of the ID on the attachment row, see below

My HTML
<tr id=”idAttachmentsRow”>

After Saving page in Sharepoint Designer
<tr id=”idAttachmentsRow{generate-id()}”>

I tried removing this, re-creating the page but no matter what changes I made when I saved the page it replaced my HTML with its version. After some research I finally found an article by Jorge Vasquez which offered a work around.
